Critique of Query and First Ten Pages by Sara D'Emic of Talcott Notch Literary Services

This item is now closed! Thank you!
Sara D'Emic, associate agent at Talcott Notch Literary Services, is offering an in-depth critique of your query and ten page sample, designed to get agents' and editors' attention

I'm excited to be starting my career with Talcott Notch and am actively extending my client base. I'm looking for adult and YA fantasy, sci-fi, horror, mystery, and mainstream fiction (plus all the sub genres those encompass). I'll also gladly look at non-fiction science and technology. I graduated from Emerson College with a BA in Writing, Literature, and Publishing. I've been an editorial/PR intern for Last Light Studio and an editorial intern for Hanging Loose Press.

A good fantasy or sci-fi has something we haven't seen before, whether a unique world or fantastic creature. More important than that, and true for all fiction, is that there are strong characters and a raison d'etre behind the story. I like books where I really get to know the characters, and books that show the world in a different way. For the old classics I enjoy the likes of Mary Shelley, Dumas, Matthew Lewis, and Lovecraft. My more modern favorites include Beloved, Patricia Highsmith's The Talented Mr. Ripley, A Song of Ice and Fire series, Michael Poore's Up Jumps the Devil, and Jebediah Berry's The Manual of Detection.

This item will close on March 17, 2013, at 11:00 PM EST. Any bids placed after that time stamp will not be honored. Since the files will be submitted electronically, this item is open internationally.
